Do you know the difference between root rosettes and stem rosettes? Plants have structures that have their own functions.
This structure consists of the leaves at the top, followed by the tree trunk below, and finally the roots at the bottom.
Leaves grow on stem branches. sometimes it clusters together, sometimes only one leaf grows.
Stem books (nodes)
Stem nodes are the places where the leaves are on the stem, these nodes are usually circular like rings on the stem. and some of these books are visible and some are invisible.
Books that appear are usually found on plants that do not branch, such as bamboo, coconut, sugar cane, and so on. While books that are not visible are found in branched plants.
In order to know the layout of the leaves on the stem, look at the number of leaves in the nodes.
- The first is that in one of the books there is one leaf.
- In one book there are two leaves.
- And there are many leaves in one book.
There is a leaf in the books
There is one leaf per node on the tree trunk, which is called a spread layout (folia sparsa). and usually the layout of plants with spread leaves looks like the leaves are in close rows.
Leaves with this arrangement are called rosette. and the rosette is divided into two.
The first root rosette
Root rosettes are usually found on radish plants. Because the stems grow very short, this causes the leaves to grow in rows above the ground surface. And rose is near the roots.
Stem rosette
It is called a stem rosette because the plant has a stem that has a long body. so that the leaves are at the nodes on the stem in a tight row at the top of the stem. Rose stems are usually found on coconut plants. (Read: Types of Branching)
In one book there are two leaves
As in the noni plant. If you look at the noni plant in the stem, there are two leaves that face each other in one book.
And this type is called face-to-cross (folia opposite or decussate folia).
In one book there are many leaves
Leaves that have this layout are called berkarang (folia verticillata). As found in island plants.
